Candidate Psychological Testing
Posted about 1 month ago Testing candidates for a psychological profile. Is this a successful practice? Where can a test be purchased? What are the down sides?
Are there some informal interview tactics that can be used to get an accurate profile? |

| Posted about 1 month ago Hi David; We use testing for most of our positions. The test we use is standardized and looks at the 'Big 5' personality indicators (extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, openness to experience). It is completed on-line and provides a very detailed report along with coaching recommendations, selling style report (for sales only), interview questions, and overall match or miss compared to the position. It's through the McQuaig Institute (http://www.mcquaig.com/), and the fees are quite reasonable. The downside, as with any psychological testing, is that you are relying on the candidate to have full self knowledge, which a lot of people do not. Another issue we have faced is hiring managers basing the entire hiring decision on the test, rather than using test results as a tool in the hiring process. Hope this helps, Valerie |
